Grand day for teens

Teenagers gather for Casey’s Youth Week.
CASEY’S Youth Week celebrations attracted more than 1000 young people to events around the City.
The week kicked off earlier this month with Youth Full Fest, a free afternoon of games and art workshops, and ended with Fringe Fest, featuring a great line-up of local bands.
City of Casey mayor Kevin Bradford congratulated Casey’s young people for their efforts and initiatives in making this year’s National Youth Week an outstanding success.
“It was fantastic to see so many young people in our city participate in the various activities throughout the week,” Cr Bradford said.
“Many of the events and activities were organised by young people themselves and I’d like to thank those who volunteered their time and energy to create unique opportunities for the community to enjoy.”
Many businesses and community organisations were involved in the week, including the Lions Club of Cranbourne, which sponsored a range of events.
During the week, Casey youths also participated in the Casey Creations Youth Arts Competition, the Hampton Park Youth Info Centre Community barbecue, and the National Youth Week debate.
Students from Eumemmerring College’s Fountain Gate campus, Lyndhurst Secondary College and Minaret College provided an interesting debate around the topics ‘Money is not necessary for survival’, ‘English should not be a compulsory VCE subject’ and ‘Which of the sexes is more intelligent’.
