Woman struck with golf club

A WOMAN was hit in the head with a golf club at her Cranbourne West home after a man broke into the garage.
The victim and her husband were inside their Conferta Court home when they heard noises coming from the garage about 9pm on Tuesday, 18 April.
They confronted the man, who allegedly picked up a golf club and hit the woman in the head then ran off. Police attended with canine units and found the offender hiding in a nearby court in a garden holding the golf club and a backpack full of stolen goods.
The man was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and assault.
He was remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
