New guides for liquor licensing

CASEY Council is inviting local sporting clubs to a free liquor licensing forum in a bid to encourage the responsible serving of alcohol.
Mayor Kevin Bradford said the Winter Season Sports Club Liquor Licensing Forum will discuss a range of legal and social requirements that local sports clubs and organisers need to understand in regards to the responsible and legal serving of alcohol.
Cr Bradford urged local sporting club representatives to attend the forum that he claimed would benefit “even the most experienced of club administrators”.
The forum will provide the following benefits at no cost to participants:
· Accredit participants through Liquor Licensing Victoria’s clubs seminar — a requirement to become a sporting club’s Liquor Licence Nominee.
· Provide important information on special sections of liquor licences, including booth licences (for liquor supplied at point of sale during a sporting event), trading hours for supply on club premises and approvals/consents (allowances for persons under the age of 18 years on licensed premises).
· Provide information and an overview of alcohol-related programs that are targeted at and benefit sporting clubs, including Good Sports and Looking After Our Mates.
· Provide the latest information available from Victoria Police, the relevant City of Casey departments, Liquor Licensing Victoria and Good Sports programs.
· Provide a first option to participate in the Responsible Service of Alcohol program to be conducted at the City of Casey for a minimal fee at a date to be determined.
Cr Bradford said the forum would provide participants with the knowledge and necessary information on the club and members’ responsibilities as a liquor licensee to ensure a safe and responsible winter season of sport within Casey.
The forum will be held at 7pm on Monday, 6 March, at the City of Casey Civic Centre.
For a copy of the registration form or for more information, contact Casey Leisure Project Officer Brett Osler on 9705 5200.
