Around 90 people flocked to Balla Balla Community Centre in Cranbourne East to celebrate its first Biggest Morning Tea in two years.
After being forced to cancel the annual event last year due to the pandemic, the team at Balla Balla was thrilled with the attendance.
Attendees took part in a variety of games including throwing a coin in a teapot.
Donated items from local businesses and community groups were raffled and auctioned off and all leftover food was sold for extra donations to the Cancer Council.
Manager Maree Cullinan said the group raised more than $3000 for the organisation.
“We;re pretty stoked. It’s pretty impressive considering we’re in a pandemic,” she said.
“We would’ve been happy with anything because it was more about the ability to come together as a community and feel like it was a normal day.”
Guests were well-fed, with hot food donated and served by Larte Central Social Enterprise Cafe, and other food items donated by community members, sponsors and staff.
