A YOUNG woman was indecently assaulted while she was walking on a busy road in Lyndhurst on Saturday morning.
Police are investigating the incident where the 21-year-old victim was set upon while walking on the Western Port Highway about 6.45am on Saturday morning.
Police said the woman was walking on a footpath in a southerly direction about 300 metres from the Thompson’s Road intersection, listening to her iPod, when a man approached her from behind.
The offender punched the woman in the face, knocked her to the ground, attempted to rip off her clothes and indecently assaulted her.
The victim managed to fight off the attacker and ran to the BP service station at the Thompson’s Road intersection.
The offender is described as a Caucasian male, between 183 and 185 centimetres tall, medium to solid build, about 30 to 40-years-old, wearing a blue or navy beanie, like a skull cap, and white slip-on shoes.
