Blokarts set sail in Cranbourne

A group of sailors didn’t have to worry about treacherous waters when they rolled their mini-yachts into Cranbourne East over the Australia Day long weekend.

Forty-four competitors from Australia and New Zealand took to Casey Fields to set their sails during the Australian Blokart Championships four-day regatta held from 25-28 January.

The blokarts, a small compact land yacht, which weigh 23 kilograms are made up of stainless steel, three wheels, a mast and a sail. Each kart is about 2m wide – and can reach speeds of up to 95km/h.

Competitors, who were electronically timed, raced in two classes including performance and production.
