Hundreds of people have come through the doors of the Tooradin Community Centre for the town’s biggest Christmas craft market.
Dozens of stalls were on offer including patchwork quilts, linens, gift hampers, gift boxes, Christmas decorations and baking, toys, nursery goods, plants and more at Tooradin’s Craft Bazaar held on Saturday 16 November.
Committee member of the Christ Church of Tooradin Friendship Group Marie Ormandy said more than 75 people rallied to produce an amazing Bazaar which attracted people from all over Melbourne.
Hosted by the Tooradin Christ Church since 1903 and led by organiser Dale Bell, the Bazaar was the “result of young and old” working together to maintain a stunning old heritage listed church, with all funds going towards benefitting the local community.
The Friendship Group worked throughout the year creating a wide variety of items to tempt shoppers.
“There is a saying that the secret of finding the best available sauces and chutneys is to go to the local fete, one that had been going on for years and look for that lady with the kindest eyes. And they did on Saturday,” Ms Ormandy said.
“The cakes and puddings also sold well.
“It takes four days to set up the Bazaar. As well as locals, helpers come from a range of local sporting clubs, and the Koo Wee Rup Venturers. Local farmers donate fresh vegies and plants,” she said.
