A 19-year-old man has been charged in relation to a collision that killed two people including a Hampton Park man in the south-east.
It is alleged a Mazda 3 and Nissan Skyline collided on Ferntree Gully Road in Oakleight East about 8pm on Sunday 29 September.
A 21-year-old Hampton Park man was behind the wheel of the Nissan when he was killed almost instantly.
A 19-year-old Ferntree Gully woman, who was a rear seat passenger in the Mazda, was taken to hospital in a critical condition and later died.
An 18-year-old Box Hill man travelling in the back seat, was taken to hospital and remains in a critical but stable condition.
The Bayswater North man has been charged with culpable driving and negligently cause serious injury and will appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court 2 October.
Detective Inspector Stuart McGregor, from the Major Collision Investigation Unit said high speed was a major cause in the fatal car crash.
