Make wish come true

IT HAS been only two weeks since the start of the 2010 Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal, and donations in Cranbourne have already reached 223 out of the Victorian tally of 6273 gifts.
The Salvation Army hopes to be able to distribute 85,000 gifts to Victorian adults, teenagers and children in need this Christmas, an increase of 5000 gifts on last year.
Residents are urged to continue making as many donations as they can, as Christmas looms nearer. Appeal spokesperson Major Brad Halse of the Salvation Army said he was overwhelmed by the support shown by local residents.
“Cranbourne residents’ generosity has been fantastic so far. We hope that Cranbourne residents will continue to support this wonderful cause, which so many people rely on each Christmas,” he said. Gifts can be donated at any Kmart store right up until Christmas Eve. Also, for the first time, online contributions will be accepted this year.
To donate a gift, take a gift tag off a Wishing Tree located in any Kmart store, identify the appropriate gender and age of a suitable recipient, put it with your unwrapped gift and place it under the tree.
