Ready and all able for cricket try-out

THE Cranbourne Cricket Club is calling for all abilities players to be part of the upcoming cricket season.
City of Casey manager Sport and Leisure Richard Amon said the club was encouraging anyone with a disability interested in joining a team or learning cricket skills to attend a ‘come and try’ session at Casey Fields Oval 2 Nets, 160 Berwick – Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne East.
The sessions are on Sunday 28 November 2010, 11am – 12.30pm (free barbecue to follow); Friday 10 December 2010, 6pm – 7.30pm and Friday 28 January 2011, 6pm – 7.30pm.
An All Abilities Cricket Carnival will also be held on Sunday 27 February 2011 at Casey Fields, and is sure to attract many teams competing at different levels.
“The carnival encourages people with a disability to get involved in local sports. It is being hosted by Cricket Victoria and is supported by Casey’s Access for All Abilities program, which develops sport and recreation opportunities that are accessible to people with a disability,” Mr Amon said.
“Everyone benefits and everyone can get involved – parents, kids, families, friends, seniors, carers, clubs, sporting associations, leisure centres and disability groups.
“As well as the health and wellbeing benefits, participants get to meet new people, improve their skills, have fun and may even build a sporting career.”
Cranbourne Cricket Club is one of the clubs planning to enter teams. They are looking for players to compete in the Super League format, which is for experienced cricketers and the Ten over Tonk, for less experienced players.
To register your interest or attendance at one or all of the sessions, contact Cranbourne Cricket Club Coach Shaun Petrie on 0438 632 482 or City of Casey Customer Service on 9705 5200, TTY: 9705 5568, TIS: 131 450 or email: leisure@casey.vic.gov.au.
