Festive picnic comes to Cranbourne

Festive celebrations at Cranbourne Gardens have begun with dozens of people gathering for a picnic on Saturday 15 December.

Despite grey clouds, people were keen try out the unveiling of new facilities at the Ian Potter Lakeside Precinct.

This included reclining chairs and bean bags, as well as a number of fun lawn games, offering fun for all ages, including Giant Jenga and Ring Toss. The grassy lawn is also now dotted with cool market umbrellas.

As part of the unveiling, guests enjoyed light refreshments to celebrate the new upgrades.

Manager of visitor experience, access and tourism at Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria Rufino Ramos said the precinct was now one of the top spots for a peaceful, lakeside picnic.

“A new portable visitor hub will also open on weekends, with visitor experience officers on site to offer gardening advice and engage visitors in their beautiful, natural surroundings,” he said.

“The precinct has become increasingly popular with Melbournites looking to escape the busy city-life and get back to nature.”

The addition of the new facilities is part of an ongoing development plan for the area.
