Man injured in Dandenong affray

A 28-year-old Cranbourne man was allegedly assaulted after a brawl broke out between two groups in Dandenong during the early hours of Sunday 16 December.

Police were called to Foster Street about 3.30am following reports of a large number of people brawling outside a licensed premises.

As the Cranbourne man was leaving the venue he was allegedly assaulted and sustained serious but non-life threatening facial injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police, including officers from the Public Order Response Team and Dog Squad, attended the scene and dispersed the crowd.

Capsicum spray was used during the incident after a number of people became aggressive towards officers.

Another 28-year-old man, also from Cranbourne, was arrested during the incident for being drunk in a public place.

The investigation into the affray and assault remains ongoing.

Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
