Carjacking by man with firearm

A man is in custody after an aggravated carjacking involving a firearm in Lynbrook on Thursday 29 November.

Investigators have been told three men met two other men, known to them, at a car park at a licensed premises on the South Gippsland Highway about 6.40am.

A verbal altercation took place and one of the trio allegedly produced a firearm before one of the men fled in the victims Ford utility.

Police located the stolen car at a shopping centre car park on Overland Drive in Narre Warren about 8.30am.

Shortly later two off-duty officers arrested the man inside the centre.

He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
