RANGEBANK Primary School students tested their skill and coordination during a day of juggling workshops last week.
Students from grades four, five and six at the Cranbourne school learnt how to coordinate batons and catch multiple balls throughout the interactive demonstrations sponsored by School Focused Youth Service Berwick Network, a student welfare group.
Rangebank Primary School assistant principal Allan Tibballs said it had been a long, hard year and the day was a chance to give something back to the students.
He said the students really enjoyed the day, which he said was designed to help hand-eye coordination, increase brain activity and fun and enjoyment.
Mr Tibballs said juggling teachers Jamie Bretman and Jonathon Heath were not showy at all, allowing all the kids to have a go, and teachers at the school had said it was one of the best youth groups they had hosted in a long time.
“It was great to see kids who don’t do so well at school achieve in juggling,” Mr Tibballs said.
“Kids who weren’t so academic found they could achieve at this.”
Mr Tibballs said the school found it important to give all students equal opportunities while encouraging them to achieve in their own way.
He said the juggling was also good because not only sporty children were good at it.
“The world has got a big focus on cricket, football and basketball,” he said.
“But those that are not so sports-minded were good at this.”
