CRANBOURNE’S Settlement Hotel has been named the best gaming venue in the state.
The South Gippsland Highway hotel was announced the winner of best Tabaret Gaming Venue with less than 50 machines at the prestigious Australian Hotels Association State Awards for Excellence last week.
Hotel manager Mary Finning said she was delighted to receive the accolade for the fourth year in a row.
She said the hotel beat more than 150 others throughout country Victoria to snare the top prize, which is judged on performance, service and general ambience.
“It is great news.
“I think our hotel has the edge because of its spacious and comfortable gaming room and exceptional customer service.
“Our staff are rigorously trained and know most customers by name.
“The personal service we give rates us number one. That’s why people come here.
“It’s wonderful to know we are doing something right,” she said.
Ms Finning said the hotel’s cafe was also a finalist in the category of Best Country Hotel Cafe.
Tourism Minister John Pandazopoulos congratulated the 39 award winners for their commitment to providing visitors and patrons with the best possible experience.
“Tourism is a service industry and awards programs such as these ensure that we acknowledge those who go above and beyond the call of duty to provide first class service,” he said.
“Good service creates good memories and that’s what keeps visitors coming back to Victoria.”
