Police call for witnesses

By Victoria Stone-Meadows

Police are asking a couple of good Samaritans who witnessed an armed robbery in Cranbourne on Sunday 16 April to come forward and help identify the robber.
A 21-year-old man was having a cigarette outside Cranbourne Park Shopping Centre near the bus stop on Lyall Street at about 5pm on Sunday, when he was approached by another man with a knife.
The knifeman demanded the young man hand over his phone and wallet, but made off with some money instead.
He then ran from the scene towards Sladen Street and was last seen near a betting agency on High Street.
The victim described the thief as Caucasian in appearance with a small build and was wearing a grey top and blue cap.
Following the robbery, two or three other people went to victim to check he was unharmed and police are asking these people to come forward with any information they have about the incident.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
