LYNDHURST Secondary College students enjoyed a game of basketball last week, but not the traditional way.
Year 11 VCAL health and fitness students got a taste of wheelchair basketball when guest speaker Gary Connor from Wheelchair Sport Victoria visited the school on 6 August.
Mr Connor is in a wheelchair after an accident at a building site.
Senior teaching and learning leader Jeff McMillin said Mr Connor spoke to the students about spinal injuries and careful decision making.
While Mr Connor made the students aware of the consequences of some decisions, he also spoke to them about the different sports people in wheelchairs could play and making the most out of the cards they had been dealt.
“The students had games of five-on-five basketball. The kids absolutely loved it,” Mr McMillin said.
