Victorian Cake Decorating Society
JOIN in the non-profit organisation which promotes the art of cake decorating in Victoria. The group will be meeting to learn tips and hints on cake decorating.
The Old Cheese Factory, 34 Homestead Road, Berwick in the Old Shop room. Saturday 18 June, 1pm to 3pm. From 3pm to 3.30pm a team will be planting a rose bush in honour of their late president Lyn Rattle. Cost: VCDS members $5, non-members $10, children under 16 years old $6.

Refugee Week celebrations
Dandenong Market and South East Community Links (SECL) are joining forces to celebrate the contributions that refugees have made to Greater Dandenong.
Ugandan musician Lucky Bosmic Otim will headline the performances, supported by Taqi Khan, Sudan’s Nuba Mountains community group, Polynesian dancers Nuholani and Timorese act Mystic Trio.
Visitors can try turban tying with the Sikh community or have an African headdress created for them by Nigerian community members.
Market Square, Dandenong Market, corner Clow and Cleeland streets, Dandenong. Sunday 19 June, 10am to 3pm. Entry and parking are free.

Winter teenage school holiday program.
THE City of Casey is calling all teenagers to go ice skating, try out splat ball, join a trip to Fun Galore or the Jurassic World exhibition, see a magic show, play soccer, or learn some art and craft as part of the council’s Winter Teenage School Holiday Program. The council is now taking bookings for the program which is designed for young people of all abilities aged between 12 and 17. All activities are supervised by qualified Council Youth Services Officers, and are smoke, drug and alcohol free.
The program runs between Monday 27 June and Friday 8 July. Transportation to and from most holiday program activities is available and designated pick up and drop off points are located in Cranbourne, Hampton Park, Narre Warren, Endeavour Hills and Doveton.

Winter Solstice Retreat
Ellie Chatto will lead a day-long retreat to teach participants to appreciate sound and silence, stillness and awareness within meditation and the writings of Thomas Merton.
The $10 suggested donation includes a light lunch.

The Little Mermaid

Emerging writers, ahoy!
Cameron Baker will run a comic book and graphic novel workshop at Springvale Library, 411 Springvale Road, Springvale, from noon to 1.30pm on Saturday 18 June.
Artists Abdul Hammoud and Didem Caia will run an intensive introductory workshop to help budding writers to get started. It will run from 11am to 2pm at Dandenong Library, 225 Lonsdale Street, Dandenong.
Abdul Hammoud, Kalyan Ky, Christian Aleman-Pineda and more will perform stories, performances and readings at Walker Street Gallery, corner Walker and Robinson streets, Dandenong, from 6.30pm.
Learn how to write, produce and record a podcast in an audio storytelling workshop with Josie Smart and Bethany Atkinson-Quinton, at Dandenong Library, 225 Lonsdale Street, Dandenong, from 3pm to 5pm.
