BOTH Ashley Lodder of Berwick and Bruce Rayment of Cranbourne East (Cultural Climate, Nation’s Foundation, News Opinion, 14 January) are mistaken if they really believe religion is a legitimate education tool.
Religion is about indoctrinating people into surrendering their capacity to learn how to think independently and to commit to Biblical myths and non-evidenced-based thinking and decision making.
Religion has no place in modern education policy.
Special Religious Instruction has no place in any public education program dedicated to teaching students to think for themselves.
If religious instruction is to be included in all schools then all private schools should also be required to provide instruction in Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution in the interests of balance.
