Cranbourne wins away

CRANBOURNE bowlers took the points at Heathmont for their first away win for the season to maintain a top-four position in the Metro Pennant competition.
The side won two rinks for an overall three-shot win in a thrilling finish.
Ray Travica’s and Peter Elgar’s rinks were the stars with respective margins of 11 and six shots.
Cranbourne 98 d Heathmont 95. L. Quigg 17-27; B. Gay 20-24; R. Travica 32-21; P. Elgar 29-23.
Cranbourne (2) failed by three shots to defeat visitors Berwick in a closely fought game.
Berwick led narrowly at the break and, despite Cranbourne fighting back strongly at the finish, it hung on for victory.
Cranbourne won two rinks with Neil Fell’s rink maintaining its excellent form.
Berwick 105 d Cranbourne 102. G. Imeson 27-31; N. Fell 31-25; A. Mickle 20-28; J. Pentreath 24-21.
Cranbourne (3) visited Sandringham and scored heavily on its new green for a 39-shot success.
Cranbourne won three rinks and narrowly lost the fourth.
Mike Noa’s and Ken Hocking’s rinks were the big winners.
Cranbourne 108 d Sandringham 69. T. Whalley 17-19; M. Noa 34-18; W. Ballard 25-16; Ken Hocking 32-16.
Cranbourne (4) fired up to overcome Blackburn at home by 24 shots, courtesy of three winning rinks.
Allan Dennis’ rink claimed a 17-shots triumph in a good all-round performance.

Cranbourne (5) hosted Narre Warren and proved too strong with excellent bowling on two winning rinks for a 23-shot victory.
Sofio Raiti’s rink was in hot form to completely dominate its opponents and take the weekly award.

Cranbourne (6) pipped Black Rock by 13 shots in a competitive match on all rinks.
Cranbourne won all four rinks by small margins in a consistent performance.
Cranbourne 90 d Black Rock 77. J. Hanks 22-16; G. Winters 21-20; T. VanSchalm 22-21; J. Potts 25-20.
There was no Ladies’ Pennant played on Melbourne Cup Day. The competition will resume on 11 November.
The club championships in the men’s and ladies’ sections have begun and will continue over the next month.
Entries for the men’s pairs, triples and fours close on 20 November.
The Trios Triples Tournament will be conducted next Sunday 16 November.
