CRANBOURNE RSL Bowls Club’s top-of-the-ladder Division 3, Section 7 side defeated Mentone by 23 shots on Saturday for its fourth straight victory.
The team will put its unbeaten record on the line in the local derby against old foes Cranbourne this week. Scores: Cranbourne RSL 106 d Mentone 83. N. Drummond 27-16; P. Somers 17-33; Greg Dore 31-16; Ryan Drummond 31-18. Coaches’ award: R. Drummond (three votes), G. Dore (two), John Curwood (one).
The club’s Division 5, Section 6 side went down again – this time to Oakleigh – and need to find some form as the season is slipping away. This week’s match against Burden Park is a must win. Scores: Oakleigh 99 d Cranbourne RSL 69.
Coaches’ award: Tom Barnes (three), Len Clarke (two), John Smith (one).
Cranbourne RSL’s ladies’ team finds itself in a handy position on the VLBA Pennant ladder after accounting for Waverley Golf by 30 shots. The squad has some winnable games coming up that could see the ladies improve even more.
