HAMPTON PARK BOWLS
HAMPTON Park bowlers Neville Hendrie, Peter Hayden, Andrew Brandolin and Shannon Micallef played in the Casey district fours semi-final at Narre Warren. They continued the good bowling by the club’s members over the pennant break with a strong 21-10 win.
In the final on Friday night at Narre Warren, the Parkers team was outplayed and were defeated.
Geoff Ampt was back at Narre Warren on Sunday for the semi-finals of the Casey district men’s singles. In a tense game his Pakenham opponent was too consistent and Ampt lost 15-25.
On Tuesday, the midweek pennant was washed out.
On Thursday, Denise Eastick represented Hampton Park in the Casey Bowls Division, champion of champions singles. She won her first game comfortably but faded late in the semi-final and went down 22-25.
Saturday had the return of pennant and three Hampton Park teams were successful.
Division 2 was at Cranbourne and had a good 10-shot win. Neville Hendrie, Larry Simpson, Sean McDonald and Ken Cobden led the way winning 25-14; while Steve Barnes, Chris Hendrie, Andrew Brandolin and Warwick Hardy won 27-17.
Geoff Ampt, John Nunan, Shannon Micallef and Shane Collins just lasted to win 20-19; but Shane Hardy, Mark Paton, Ian Bartlett and Zak Storm lost 14-26.
Hampton Park (1) 16-86 defeated Cranbourne (2) 2-76.
Division 4 also played Cranbourne, but at Pound Road. Aaron Ottaway, Ann Westwell, Denise Eastick and Helen Lambert won 28-19; and Vince Kovacic, Jim Westwell, Ellen Smith and Geoff Ladner won 25-17. Chris Barnes, Gavin Wilson, Stan Hatch and Peter Hayden won 22-17; and Heather Naismith, Richard Pallet, Rob Woff and Ron Beverly also won, 20-16.
Hampton Park (2) 18-95 defeated Cranbourne (4) 0-69.
Division 6 kept the winning streak going, beating Burden Park at Hampton Park. Lou Soligo, Jos Van Hout, Bill Webb and Craig Richards won 26-13; John Wright, Marion Battaglia, Brian Diaper and Ray Wood won 23-17; and Gerry Cox, Rudi Oost, Bob Nicol and Ian Kitt won 18-14. Unfortunately Keith Damon, Jen Sherry, Janice Collins and Bill Holden lost 15-22.
Hampton Park (3) 16-82 defeated Burden Park (4) 2-66.
Division 8 had another close loss, this time at Clayton. Rhonda Diaper, June Damon, Gwen Clough and Trevor Harbright won 22-17; but Keith McCarthy, J. Castricum (sub), Wayne Grimsey and Bruce Pointon lost 14-24.
Hampton park (4) 2-36 lost to Clayton (6) 12-41.
