CRANBOURNE’s Michael Feldman is hoping that luck is on his side as he takes his best poker face to Crown Casino to play in The Aussie Millions Main Event.
The avid poker player said he was just looking forward to being involved in Australia’s biggest poker tournament over the next few weeks, and any success would just a bonus.
The Aussie Millions Main Event is the richest poker tournament in the Southern Hemisphere, with over $6.5 million up for grabs, and attracts the best players from across the globe.
Mr Feldman will be player with the Australian Poker League (APL) and 888 Poker League (888PL) Team after scoring a spot in the teams in January following some good form.
He said he was looking forward to be a part of the tournament, which kicked off this week.
Mr Feldman played in the first round on Sunday, making it through to the second round later this week.
“I am hoping to run well and enjoy the experience,” he said.
“I have no expectation at this point other than to play well and make good decision at the table to get me through each day.
“I love playing the game so to play in the Aussie Millions is a great experience.
“I look forward to sitting down and giving it my best shot.
“I’m also looking forward to meeting a few international players, such as Phil Helmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Gus Hansen and Antonio Esfandiari.”
Mr Feldman started player poker about 10 years ago, but only started taking it seriously more recently.
“I have been playing poker for about 10 years, but only for fun and never really look into the dynamics of the game,” he said.
“Over the last few years I have studied the game and the great players of the game to learn what makes a great player and how they get to the final table time and time again.”
Mr Feldman said playing in the APL and 888PL tournaments had been great preparation for him.
“They have been a great place to learn and have fun along the way with some big tournaments to challenge those who wish to take it more seriously and chase a big pay out and title,” he said.
