China cash for Casey projects

A CASEY councillor has returned from a week-long mission in China to secure multimillion dollar investments for major local projects.
From 10-17 April, Sam Aziz travelled to four cities in China and presented investors with opportunities in the City of Casey and Cardinia Shire with the key focus on an international-standard ice rink, a domestic and international airport and the Bunyip food belt and the Casey civic and commercial precinct development.
Cr Aziz said the trip was beneficial and generated “significant interest.”
He said Casey had made tremendous business and political contacts which established the city as a prime local government agency looking for investment.
Cr Aziz was also joined by Shu-Cheen Yu, a Casey resident and international opera star who is well-known in China.
Council will now be making Ms Yu an honorary Casey Ambassador to the China Project as well as undertaking a number of actions to facilitate investment into the Casey Cardinina region.
These actions include trying to secure participation in the Victorian Government Trade Mission in China proposed for September-October; discuss with Cardinina Shire and other relevant municipalities the idea for an airport in Melbourne’s south east; develop a feasibility study on the need for an international standard ice rink in Casey; and maintain close contacts with the Victorian Government offices in China, Austrade and the Australian Chamber of Commerce in China.
