HAMPTON Park Primary School’s high achievers were given special awards on the last day of term.
Two children per class were chosen as the hardest working this term and celebrated at an assembly acknowledging the students.
Assistant principal Connie van der Voort said the Gold Awards recognised 40 students across all year levels whose achievements in English, mathematics or integrated studies over the term were outstanding.
Ms van der Voort said the school made sure academic excellence was celebrated and rewarded its students with special ribbons also going to Students of the Week for good behaviour all week or improvement in their work.
She said the end of term Gold Awards Assembly was a chance to reward those students who were particularly hard working throughout the term.
“We send a letter to the parents so they know their kid is about to get one. The kids don’t know until the actual day,” she said.
“It’s so exciting for them, but we’re also seeing the other kids trying harder.”
