CRANBOURNE Christian College has changed its name as more and more students from outside the suburb grace its halls.
The school will now be known as Casey Grammar School and comes complete with a new logo to reflect the new look as the school undergoes construction of state-of-the-art sport and arts facilities and a new technology centre.
Principal Evelyn Sayers said when the school began in 1994, with just 55 students, most were from Cranbourne.
Now, 13 and a half years and more than 600 students later, Ms Sayers said the prep to year 12 school drew from a far greater demographic and it was decided to substitute the word Casey for Cranbourne to better reflect the larger service area.
“The name of any organisation is extremely important as it makes statements about the purpose of the establishment,” Ms Sayers said. “We want to reflect the fact that we encourage and welcome students from a wide radius and that our school stands for delivering a comprehensive, diverse and academic curriculum, which is underpinned by an inclusive, ecumenical ethos.”
