PRESCHOOLERS have travelled forward in time to experience life at primary school.
The youngsters turned out at Devon Meadows Primary School last week as part of a transition program to meet teachers, students and become comfortable with the school setting.
Assistant principal Anne Boyd said the children participated in developmental learning activities with grade two students. These included motor skills, threading and general play activities.
Mrs Boyd said it was a chance for the kids to have a school experience and for parents to check out the school while they were still deciding which school their child would go to next year.
Part of this year’s transition program included a teddy bear’s picnic and the school band working on a rock and roll teddy bear performance.
“The kids had an hour in the afternoon working with teachers and other kids and they loved it,” Mrs Boyd said.
“There was one child who was really upset and didn’t want to go home, which is good I suppose.”
