Burglar cuts phone lines

A BURGLARY in Cranbourne North caused most of the area’s phone lines to be down.
Last Thursday, the Thompsons Road Medical Centre was broken into at midnight. The burglars cut the building’s Telstra phone lines during the burglary.
Detective Senior Constable Peter Carroll from Cranbourne CIU said phone lines between Cranbourne North and the Cranbourne exchange were down or very slow for about 10 hours after the burglary.
The thieves jemmied open a window with a screwdriver after climbing onto a bin at the medical centre on the corner of Thompsons and Woodbine Roads at the Homemaker Centre.
Cash and a plastic bag full of Eftpos receipts were stolen.
Police said the alarm was activated during the burglary.
Any witnesses can contact Detective Senior Constable David Measham at Cranbourne CIU on 5991 0661.
