FLAGS were flying at Cranbourne Secondary College after its new house mascots were revealed.
The new school house emblems were designed by students who took part in a competition at the school recently.
The winners were announced at the school assembly, with the colourful flags flying high at the unveiling, complete with caricatures of various designs including a dragon.
Principal Yvonne Watts said the new mascots and colours were part of a strategy to keep students involved in the school spirit.
Ms Watts said the purpose of the houses would also change, with the House Cup not just going to the house with the best athletes.
She said rather than being based on swimming and athletics events, students could now gain points for their house through public speaking, leadership awards, and other academic awards they may win during the year.
“Students will be informed of the aggregate score during the year so it will not just be a cup awarded at the end of the sporting events,” Ms Watts said.
She said the idea was an initiative of the school’s Student Representative Council (SRC).
