CRANBOURNE schools are rejoicing after receiving government money to fund much-needed upgrades and maintenance on facilities.
Students at Cranbourne Park Primary School, Cranbourne West Primary School, Cranbourne Primary School and Cranbourne Secondary College will all benefit from the allocation of funding recently announced.
More than $320,000 was given to the four schools, with Cranbourne West Primary School receiving more than $180,000.
Assistant principal Chris Short said the money would be used to upgrade the student toilet block and maintain and renovate old facilities.
“We are absolutely thrilled about the allocated funds,” Mr Short said.
More than 800 students are enrolled at the primary school and Mr Short said this number continues to rise.
“A high number of students means a higher use of the facilities and with this comes more maintenance that is required.”
He said the school could also be in line for a further funding boost when staff members soon meet with education officials.
Local MP Jude Perera said the government was committed to keeping schools up to date with urgent maintenance needs.
“The extra maintenance funding is another way the Bracks Government is investing in our education system and making Victoria a better place to live,” Mr Perera said.
