A PASSION for horse sport campdrafting has paid off for a Cranbourne horse enthusiast.
Geraldine Chapman won $1000 of horse products after entering the national Vetsearch Golden Moments in Performance Horse Sports competition with a nomination about her favourite sport.
She can now choose $1000 worth of Vetsearch products of her choice at Horse Power in Cranbourne.
Ms Chapman’s entry talked about the efforts of the Australian stock horses at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games Opening Ceremony as a defining moment in the horse sport’s recent history.
“It was simply amazing to see the riders and their horses performing on the world stage, literally,” she said.
“It was a special moment for them and for our Australian stock horse heritage.”
Manager of Horse Power in Cranbourne Kerryn Bennett said the competition teased out some moments of sporting brilliance.
“The Vetsearch Golden Moments competition was great. People are passionate about their horse sports and it’s a natural fit for Vetsearch to be helping acknowledge commitment and success,” Ms Bennett said.
The quest to celebrate golden moments in Australian horse sports received entries from across the country.
In the end, the efforts of Makybe Diva to win the Melbourne Cup three times in a row was selected by the judges as the ‘Ultimate Golden Moment’, followed by the performance of the Australian Eventing team at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
Vetsearch area manager Joanne Wass said the national competition had been run as part of Vetsearch’s 70th anniversary.
“Vetsearch is proud to provide this platform for everyone to reflect on their sport and tease out those moments of brilliance and courage that define what it is to compete in Australian horse sports,” she said.
