MAGIC, spells and super heroes were the main themes at Courtenay Gardens Primary School this week as students dressed as their favourite book characters.
Children from all year levels, as well as some teachers, wore some magnificent costumes for the school’s book parade on Monday, coinciding with Literacy and Numeracy Week this week.
Assistant principal George Danson was the MC and read through paragraphs of a Dr Seuss book.
A winner was selected from each grade level, with the students who wore the best costume winning a book.
Some winning costumes included a witch from The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy, Sponge Bob, and the genie from Aladdin.
Other costumes included fairies, Bob the Builder, princesses and dinosaurs.
All classes will be involved in buddy activities focusing on literacy activities, such as making a classbook, this week.
