ROC knocks off Brookers

ROC snapped its two-game losing streak and overran Gembrook Cockatoo in round 14 of the Outer East Premier Division A Grade competition.

At Gembrook Reserve, the Kangaroos took charge and got on the front foot early, taking a 5-16 lead into quarter time.

The Brookers fought back in the second but couldn’t hold off the visitors, as ROC slightly extended the margin to 15-31 at the main break.

The third followed a similar recipe as the Kangaroos were narrowly better on the scoreboard and held a 25-45 advantage heading into the final term.

ROC rode out the momentum and cruised to a 33-59 result that saw the club back into the winner’s column.

Skipper Isabella O’Shanassy scored 21 goals for the Kangaroos, while Courtney Davey and Gemma Stacey both contributed 19.

For Gembrook, Bianca Nagel, Mary Miles and Rachel Williams were the best on court in defeat.

Wandin’s march towards finals continued as the Bulldogs took care of Olinda Ferny Creek 50-31 at home.

Woori Yallock jumped into the top-four for now with a convincing 35-61 victory against Upwey Tecoma.

The second half of round 14 will be played this week, with Emerald travelling to face Mount Evelyn and Monbulk hosting Healesville.
