Kooweerup still kicking after 10-shot triumph over Mt Eliza

KOOWEERUP BOWLS

The Pennant dream is still alive for Kooweerup Bowls Club after the Division 6 side won its way into the preliminary final after a steady win against Mt Eliza on their synthetic green in trying conditions on Saturday.

With two rinks having wins, Kooweerup led for the majority of the game to record a 70-60 victory.

As in the past few games, another battle confronted Steve Plumridge, Tim Katz, Mav Katz and Tracey Hill who eked out a tough 18-14 win.

The standout rink of the past few games had the wheels not quite fall off but get decidedly wobbly.

But to their credit Brett Condron, Peter Butera, Cam Davey and Adrian Wheelan did limit the damage of dropping 15 shots on three ends to lose 20-34.

An outstanding game by skip Steven Jenkins, well supported by Ian Richardson, Daniel Price and Jim Jenkins, resulted in a 32-12 win.

Next on the hit list for Kooweerup is Rosebud Country Club in the preliminary final this Saturday.
