The lower grades of the Casey Cardinia Cricket Association were back in action over the weekend with the combination of Brett Reid’s (109 not out) unbeaten century and a five-wicket haul to Lehan Andrahennadi (5/49) leading Clyde to victory over Devon Meadows in A Grade.
Reid was on fire, facing just 49 balls, with 15 fours and five sixes giving a clear indication of his intent while at the crease.
Joel Avard also added 69 for the Cougars in the big win, sharing an unbroken 162-run stand with Reid.
Reid wasn’t the only centurion in A Grade, as Shane Tongue (103) brought up a ton of his own in Tooradin’s win against Cranbourne Meadows.
Sanjeev Dhankar and Arthur Churchill both notched half centuries for the Rebels, but it wasn’t enough.
Elsewhere in A Grade, Brad Reiner’s knock of 59 not out steered Cardinia past Kooweerup.
In B Grade, 54 from Josh Spittal helped Clyde set a target of 167 for Pakenham to chase, but ultimately the Lions were successful in reaching the target thanks to 65 from Josh Bloor.
In what was first versus second on the ladder, Nar Nar Goon-Maryknoll handled business against Officer due to 87 from Nadun Alwis.
Pakenham Upper Toomuc rode Devin Wilke’s 63 not out to get a win over Emerald.
An unbeaten half century from Tom Rudeforth lifted Tooradin to a victory against Upper Beaconsfield.
An innings of 64 from Ashley Jenkin aided Cardinia to knock off Lucas Eades’ 57 and Merinda Park in C Grade.
51 from Yasuntha Gamalath was enough for Melbourne Sixers to take care of Officer, and Kooweerup got their fifth win of the season as Demons batter Liam Pirotta posted 59 against Carlisle Park.
D Grade action saw spectacular bowling from David Auld, as he took 4/16 which was followed by 51 not out from Russell Little to help Pakenham cruise to victory over Merinda Park.
Darcy Taylor fell just short of his century at 91, and his side Nar Nar Goon-Maryknoll fell short against Pakenham Upper Toomuc, with Allan Collins scoring 64 and Adam Tucker posting 73.
Harpreet Gandhi put up 83 for Kooweerup, but Musashi Guruswamy responded with 66 for Officer as the Bullants marched to victory.
E Grade had big numbers across the board, most notably with the matchup of Clyde and Devon Meadows.
Devon Meadows decided to bat first, which led to David Carson and Peter O’Brien both notching half centuries.
Then with the ball, Robert Worsteling ripped through the Clyde batting order by taking a marvellous hat-trick and ending with figures of 6/25 in a day out for the Panthers.
Santhuka De Silva showed elite versatility for Melbourne Sixers as he scored 61 with the bat before taking four wickets with the ball in his side’s win over Pakenham.
A fantastic knock of 67 not out from Mike Chapman and four wickets from Nital Tawde couldn’t get Carlisle Park over the line, as Cardinia took home the win.
Gunjan Patel grabbed four scalps in Pakenham Upper Toomuc’s successful defence of 131 against Officer.
