Big scores, huge hauls and tight games highlights of lower grades

There were some great individual efforts and some tight contests in CCCA Lower Grades on Saturday.

Rod Downes (136) and Ravindra Singh (103) made centuries in D Grade for NNG/Maryknoll and Officer respectively, while David Joseph (6/12) took bowling honours for Kerala Strikers in D Grade.

Sebastian Mueller-Schmuki (6/51) was hot on his heels for Emerald in B Grade, while three other bowlers enjoyed valuable five wicket hauls.

Hiren Patel (Pak. Upper/Toomuc One-Day) claimed 5/27 and Virat Bishnoi (NNG/Maryknoll B) 5/39, while Daniel Quinn (Tooradin A) was the chief destroyer, taking 5/44 in a losing cause against Cardinia.

The Bulls won that match outright, a feat matched only by Pakenham in D Grade…who defeated Officer.

The tightest match of the day took place at Pakenham Upper, where the Yabbies defended their 163 from day one against Pakenham (162).

Ryan Yeates (3/14) and Bailey Smith (3/34) were the heroes for the Yabbies, while lower-order runs to Jarrod Palin (27) almost got the Lions across the line.

Cardinia (132) also snuck across the line in C Grade against Kooweerup (129), with a tenth-wicket partnership between Lachlan Boswell (4) and Ryan Webster (5 not out) getting the Bulls the choccies.
