Hot Heppleston scorches the field in warm conditions at Loch

SWGMW BOWLS

It was another fun filled day as 46 of bowlers from the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group were welcomed by Trevor to Loch and District Bowls Club.

John and Pauline signed us all in as Peter prepared the teams.

The rink looked in excellent condition and the temperature slowly increased as the morning went by.

Once the teams were called and we began our weekly battle, it was evident that the weather was heading towards what can only be described as an extremely warm day.

This did not detract from the fun and laughter around the rinks.

Didn’t see any wrong bias shots but our Royal Children’s Hospital tin always fills up quite speedily.

Some excellent bowling from all quarters, with a few wild shots from time to time.

The green was in excellent condition and Trevor was kept busy looking after everyone’s thirst; this is very much appreciated by our members.

A fair amount of friendly banter as well as a lot of laughter could be heard across the green which makes the day so much fun for all.

It was fantastic to see such happy bowlers on such a great day.

It seems a pity that everyone can’t win the day, but, as always, there can only be one winning team.

And today that team on a score of 36 was Tony Heppleston (S), Peter Thorley (L) and Stephen Muhi (3).

Also on 36 points, but just being pipped at the post on a countback, were Treveor Loughridge (3), Cheryl Floyd (L), Vern Elliott (S) and Ron Hughes (2).

Best one game winner today on a score of 19 points was Mark Hanrahan (S), Raff Merante (3) and Tony Morris (L).

A big thank you to Peter, Pauline and John who bring us all together each week to have so much fun.

Also, a big thank you to those volunteers who help prepare and clean up both before and after the day’s fun.

These include Trevor, John, David and Laurie.

This week we will be meeting at Lang Lang to once again fight it out for team of the week.

This is always a great day with Marianne and Colin eager to help our bowlers enjoy their day.

Please be on site by 10am to allow Peter time to prepare the teams.

Meanwhile, we wish all our players great days on Saturday and Tuesday with their pennant teams.

But, till next week, have fun and stay safe.

-Laurie Bell-
