Winners can’t be split on a near perfect day at Corinella

The South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group hit the first half century of Spring on Thursday with a fantastic turnout of 50 bowlers converging on the Corinella Bowls Club for its weekly challenge.

The group was lucky with the weather; with Wednesday’s rain clearing throughout the night and a bright sunny day keeping all of the bowlers happy.

As usual we were signed in by Pauline and John while Peter and Claire arranged the teams.

Having so many people on the greens always makes for a great day and the bowling, as usual, was of a high-quality and it certainly looked like everyone was having a lot of fun.

Laughter could be heard from all corners of the green and the banter is always enjoyable.

Anyway, as always, we have the winners and we have the rest, and this week we had two winning teams, both on 34 points, who we were unable to separate via a countback.

This week’s winners were Rob Jeffries (3), David Smith (S) and Frank Verco (L) along with Mark Hanrahan (S), Gillian Harper (3), Bob Arnold (2) and Margaret McConville (L).

Runners up on a score of 33 points were Peter McWilliams (S), Diane Kessen (L), Sue Stansfield (3) and Bill Williams (2).

Best One Game winners were Peter Borradale (S), Robyn Dall (3), Amanda Bozelle (2) and Elaine Williams (L).

I would like to thank Phil for all his work in preparing the green as well as looking after the kitchen and looking after our thirsty bowlers for the day.

We are so lucky to have such great volunteers each week, but we could always hope to have a few more to take the weight off the ones we rely on week after week.

Next week we will be meeting at San Remo with all players required to be on site by 10am.

If you can’t make it by 10am you risk being left off the players list, so please be there on time.

Till then, look after yourselves, stay safe and enjoy the coming week.
