The late-winter sun attracted a great turnout of 47 members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group to the San Remo Bowls Club last Thursday.
We were welcomed to the club by the hard-working Pauline and John while Tony arranged the teams.
Once the teams were organised the players were met with wonderful sunshine along with a heavy breeze; which was just strong enough to keep us all on our toes for the day.
But the highlight of the day, as always, is the great company; both on your own team as well as the opposition.
There was quite a bit of friendly banter among the players, but that is always a lot of fun as laughter can be heard around the green.
However, as always, we must congratulate this week’s winners.
And this week’s overall winners were Wayne Stevens (3), Shirley Corcoran (L), Sue Stansfield (S) and Neil Andreatta (2).
Runners up for this week were Pauline McWilliams (2), Margaret McConville (L), Michael Saunders (3) and John Nicholson (S).
Best One game winner was the team of Ken Harding (S), Raff Merante (3), Colin Scales (L) and Chris Sharpe (2).
A big thank you to Mark in the bar as well as Robyn in the kitchen.
Also thank you to all others who helped out both outside and inside, we really do appreciate the hard work.
Next week we will be meeting at Loch Bowls Club.
As always, please be at the club by 10am to allow time to arrange the teams.
