Chattering teeth can’t stop Hanrahan from leading the way at San Remo

A great turnout of 39 members from the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group braved the elements at Corinella Bowls Club on Thursday to take part in the weekly challenge.

The day started off quite mild but with the threat of rain quite strong on the horizon.

But the rain never came which made the day a fun and dry day.

But the mild morning only lasted a small while before it got colder and colder until we finished in the afternoon.

The weather though didn’t lower the standard of play around the green and it is unfortunate that everyone couldn’t win.

Between all the chattering teeth the sound of laughter could be heard loud and clear.

As usual we were welcomed and signed in by Pauline and John while Peter and David arranged the teams for the day.

We would like to thank Phil and Sue for setting up as well as Phil’s hard work inside; both in the bar with Mark as well as in the kitchen.

This week’s winners on a score of 37 were Tony Morris (L), Bev Elliott (2), Michael Saunders (3) and Mark Hanrahan (S).

Runners Up on a score of 36 were Nick Arnold (S), Laurie Bell (3), Sonja Grant (L) and Steve Bakker (2).

Best one game this week on a score of 19 were Dennis Talbot (S), Amanda Bozelle (L), Ron Fenton (2) and Raf Merante (3).

We now look forward to our next gathering at San Remo Bowls Club on Thursday 25 July.

With a planned start at 10.30am, it seems like another thrilling event awaits, so please be on site by 10am to allow time for teams to be arranged.

Wishing all our bowlers a safe and successful week until then.
