Heppleston happy with first-up victory at Loch

Loch Bowls Club provided a wonderful new backdrop for 42 members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group last Thursday.

This was the group’s inaugural weekly challenge at Loch; and on a fantastic day for lawn bowls the standard of competition was high as players fought it out to be part of team of the week.

Despite the initial chill, it was great to see the sun eventually come out, making the day far more enjoyable.

Steve’s efforts in setting up the green were clearly appreciated, ensuring everything was ready for our games and in tip-top condition.

And the green did not disappoint, it ran extremely true all day.

Only one or two wrong bias shots for the day, but that just helps to add weight to the Royal Children’s Hospital tin.

Once again, we would like to acknowledge the efforts of Pauline, John, Peter and David in organising the event, as well as the hard work of Trevor and Sue, both behind the bar, as well as in the kitchen. Also, once again thank you to Steve for cleaning up when all had left.

This week winners on 40 points were Tony Heppleston (S), Enid Johnston (L) and Trevor Loughridge (3).

Runners up on a score of 37 were Dennis Talbot (S), Frank Verco (L) and David Talbot (3).

Best One Game winners this week on 18 points were Michael Sheers (3), Robyn Coulson (2), Michael Dady (S) and Bob Arnold (L).

We now look forward to our next gathering at Lang Lang Bowls Club on 11 July (next week).

It’s always a pleasure to turn up there and be greeted by lovely Marianne.

With a planned start at 10:30am, it seems like another thrilling event awaits.

Wishing all your bowlers a safe and successful week until then.
