Power outage can’t stop Nicholson from making noise

A great turnout of 54 bowlers from the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group descended on Corinella on Thursday on a spectacular day for lawn bowls.

The weekly challenge was moved to Corinella after a power outage at San Remo made it virtually impossible to play there.

The great day and great numbers were only bettered by the great company on offer.

Thank you to Corinella for putting its hand up to cater to our family of bowlers and, like always, Corinella looked after our group excellently.

Cheryl and Terry went above and beyond cleaning up and preparing everything before we arrived; what a lovely job they did.

Out on the green the 54 players met to once again fight it out for team of the day and what a fight it was with close matches across the green.

There was a lot of friendly sledging together with quite a bit of laughter.

It is so much fun with our family of bowlers; it’s what keeps us coming back week after week.

Today’s winners on a score of 34 points were John Nicholson (S), Neil Andreatta (3), Mark Andreatta (2) and Cheryl Floyd (L).

Runners Up on a score of 33 were Tony Heppleston (S), Max Summers (3), Michael Saunders (2) and Frank Verco (L).

Best One Game Winners on 25 points were Steve Hickson (S), Laurie Bell (3) and Peter Thorley (L).

Once again, a big thank you goes to Peter for all his hard work in putting the teams together and also to Pauline and John for greeting our players and getting them signed in.

Thanks also to Terry once again for all his hard work in the kitchen and also to Chris for his work keeping our thirsty bowlers with liquid refreshment.

This week we will be returning to our normal fixture and meeting up at Lang Lang.

We look forward to catching up with our friendly group of bowlers again.

We ask that everyone be on site by 10am to allow time to get the teams selected.
