Luke and the team lap up the spoils at Lang Lang

It was another lovely day for bowlers from the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group who gathered at Lang Lang for their weekly challenge.

The weather was more like spring than early May, which was a pleasant surprise, with 36 of the family of bowlers turning up to soak in the sun, have a few laughs and fight it out for the title of team of the week.

Players were greeted by John and Pauline who happily entered our names so Peter could once again arrange the teams.

Marianne once again opened the bar during the day for our hard-working bowlers.

Once on the green the fun began with – as always – a lot of laughter and friendly banter to keep our players happy.

Not a lot of wrong bias bowls this week, but there still a few wayward shots on most rinks.

The green was in excellent condition but the morning weather tended to make the green a little faster than usual.

As the day progressed the green certainly did change a bit as well.

The weekly winners on 36 points were Luke Monckton (S), Mark Hanrahan (3), Max Williams (2) and Bobby Arnold (L).

This week’s runners up were Peter McWilliams (Co-Skip), Lindsay Russell (Co-Skip), Gillian Harper (3), Karen Hickson (2) and Alan Weeden (L).

And the Best One Game Winners were Peter Gratton (S), Derek Fenn (3) and Bill Williams (L).

It was great to see Bill in the winner’s circle on the same week that he turns 95; keep up the good work Bill.

The group would like to thank all the Lang Lang members who were present for all their hard work cleaning up after the game.

Our members will be meeting once again at Corinella this week to once again fight it out for team of the week.

We need everyone to be at the club by 10am so there is enough time to prepare the teams.

Until then; then stay safe and have fun.
