High-flying Hickson hits the target at Corinella

Members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group were treated to a beautiful day at Corinella Bowls Club as 40 players participated in the group’s weekly challenge.

It was perfect autumn weather, with the sun was out, the temperature in the early 20’s, and the wind was almost non-existent which made all our players happy.

Some great bowling was shown by many players, with a few wayward shots from a few; but overall, the bowling was first class.

There were a couple of wrong-bias shots which helped to increase the balance of the Royal Children’s Hospital tin prior to next weekend’s donation; great work everyone.

There was quite a bit of laughter and ribbing across the greens, but all in good fun.

The banter and integration make playing so much fun and helps make so many friendships.

Thank you to Terry for his efforts behind the bar as well as in the kitchen, and not to forget Sonya for her work both in the kitchen as well as clearing up outside after the games.

This week winners on a score of 35 were Steve Hickson (S), Mark Hanrahan (3), Claire Sheers (2) and Elaine Williams (L).

Runners up on 25 points were John Nicholson (S), Peter McWilliams (3), Anne Graham (2) and Tony Morris (L).

Best One Game winners on a score of 22 were Michael Dady (S), Margaret Hoy (3), Gwen Jeffrey (2) and Frank Verco (L).

Peter, Pauline and John once more deserve our praise for all their efforts.

Next Thursday we will be meeting at San Remo to continue our weekly challenge so we look forward to seeing everyone there before 10am.

For those interested there is a second stick-draw weekly challenge over winter.

Last week they met up at Corinella, this week it will be at San Remo.

All comers are welcome.

If you would like to play then please be on site by 10:30am and sign in to get a game.

It is two games of 10 ends and always a fun day.

Meanwhile, have a safe week everyone.
