Midweek mauling for Kooweerup

KOOWEERUP BOWLS

Kooweerup’s Division 4 team travelled to third-placed Beleura for round eight in Midweek Pennant Bowls last week in an important game for both clubs.

Unfortunately we copped belting, losing 38-92 on their quickish green.

In a close game throughout Trevor Kitchin, Margaret Royle, Jill Roissetter and Rex Alexander lost the last four ends to be beaten 15-20.

Meanwhile, a bit of a comeback by Jim Jenkins, Charles Poulsen, Pauline Gray and Joe Barlow reduced the losing score to 17-26 on their rink.

And always trailing were Joy Jenkins, Cam Davey, Betty King and Stephen Payne who had a very forgettable day…losing 46-6.

For the second week in a row ‘mother nature’ determined that both of Kooweerup’s Saturday teams had games washed out thus sharing the points for the day without sending down a bowl.

Both teams were saved a trip, with Division 8 scheduled to play at Frankston, while Division 9 had the GPS set for Mornington Civic.

This week is the final game before the Christmas break; hopefully we will get a game played.

Division 8, which sits top of the ladder, host eighth-placed Mt Martha this week, while Division 9 – battling in eighth spot – play host to third-placed Village Glen.
