Nice and easy for Nicholson

A large core of 36 players from the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group headed to San Remo on Thursday for another exciting weekly challenge and to find out who would be part of the winning team.

The day started with some very mild weather, a slight chance of rain, and a little wind to make the day more interesting.

The sound of friendly banter and laughter was heard as usual across the green.

There was some great bowling across the rinks, but it was mixed with a few wayward shots – as always – from a few of the group.

As the day progressed the wind increased somewhat, making it hard to control the bowling, but it also turned icy making everyone run for extra clothing.

But at least it didn’t rain.

Peter, Pauline and John once again did all the hard work to make the game a success, as they do each week.

But in the end there are winners and the rest of us.

This week’s winners on 35 points were John Nicholson (S), Frank D’Unienville (3), Raff Merante (2) and Max Williams (L).

Runners up on a score of 34 points were Tony Heppleston (S), Laurie Bell (3), Gwen Jeffrey (2) and Bob Arnold (L).

Best One Game winners on a score of 23 were Craig Brown (S), Mark Hanrahan (3) and Marites (Mae) Soledad (L).

Mark was appreciated by all, for his work behind the bar, and Gwen, as always, is the quiet achiever, for her work looking after the kitchen.

Next week we will be meeting once again at Kooweerup.

So, if everyone who is playing could be on site by 10am, to allow time for Peter to work his magic getting the teams set up, that would be greatly appreciated.

Meanwhile, have a great week, and to all the pennant players, we hope you have a good weekend of playing.
