KOOWEERUP BOWLS

Kooweerup’s Tuesday Pennant Division 4 team played Karingal at home and managed to win a very close game 56-53 with two rinks on the winner’s list.

The consistent rink of Trevor Kitchin, Margaret Royle, Jill Roissetter and Julie Walker continued its good form winning 24-20.

Beaten by the same margin of four shots was Jim Jenkins, Charles Poulsen, Pauline Gray and Joe Barlow losing 13-17.

The third rink of Joy Jenkins, Cam Davey, Betty King and Jacqui Butera had a close game winning 19-16.

Saturday Pennant Round 8 had both teams playing at home with high expectations.

Division 8 was playing Mornington and Division 9 against top-team Dromana.

In the end it was the weather that came out winners with both games being abandoned so the points were shared.

In nicer conditions, the next round of Kooweerup’s Friday Triples competition was played with the winning rink with 36 points being Vince Bevilacqua, Lindsay Stevens and Luis Aquilara [Pakenham].

Runner up team with 35 points was Ned Courtin, Ken Clifton [Pakenham] and Tina Courtin [Carrum].

Best first game went to Geoff Barber, Peter O’Nevin and Roger Balment [Korumburra] with 18 points, with the best second game, also with 18 points, going to Graham Burton, Lexie Taylor and Mel Newman [Garfield] .

Kooweerup’s Annual Walker Shield competition was held on Sunday 3 December with some serious bowls but much jocularity across the green.

The club wishes to thank the sponsors for the day in Pakenham Mazda for its continued support.

Winners for the day were Brett Condron and Margaret Royle on 32 points.

The runners up were Rex Alexander and Pauline Gray on 31 points and Noel Speight and Jill Roissetter filled third place on 30 points.

Best Winning game was produced by Jimi and Bec Watts on 15 points.
