Rebels responded from a disappointing loss to Bullseyes in round eight by upsetting finals contender Gembrook in round nine of the South West Gippsland Dart League.
Thom and his rebellious side got the better of Gembrook 9-6 on Tuesday night in a result that brings Gembrook back to the pack of sides battling for the lower spots in the top five.
They could have gone a game clear of 26ers and Mud Rats and consolidated a stronger grip on fifth place, but instead remain in a three-way tie for fifth, only ahead by percentage from the fellow four-win sides with two weeks to play.
Other results were more comprehensive across the slew of fixtures with a number of thrashings making life tough for those at the foot of the table.
Six tons from Ant saw Warriors respond from last week’s loss to Paky One by defeating Mud Rats 12-3, as did Paky One over Hoodies in one of Hoodies’ best performances of the campaign.
Wolf’s five tons helped Just Social keep its win streak alive with a 14-1 defeat of Fore, while five from Snipers’ Tim fired his side to a 13-2 win against Bullseyes.
Despite having the Bye, 26ers moved one up place on the ladder thanks to Warriors’ thrashing of Mud Rats.
Just Social can claim the minor premiership with a win next week, while nine teams remain in contention for finals action with two weeks remaining in the home and away season.
They will be made to earn that honour, however, with a clash against second-placed Snipers to finish the season.
26ers’ contest with Paky One and Gembrook’s battle with Bullseyes will have significant ramifications on finals calculations, as will Mud Rats v Rebels.
