Cream rises to the top at Corinella

Corinella was the venue for the latest weekly challenge for members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group.

The green was in tip-top condition, and the weather was fairly good with no rain, clear sky and a temperature close to 20.

A great turnout of 33 bowlers turned up to play with another half dozen dropping in through the day as spectators.

Phil did a great job of setting up before we started and we are grateful for all the work he puts in when we visit.

The day went well with the usual amount of friendly banter and laughter around the green.

Some excellent quality bowls were the order of the day, and it was a pleasure to watch some of our favourite bowlers teach a few of us how to play.

Not a lot of wrong bias bowls, but the Royal Children’s Hospital tin is not in bad condition.

As always, the cream rose to the top and this week’s winners and runners up had to be separated on a countback.

This week’s winners on 35 points were Terry Floyd (S), Frank d’Unienville (3) and Graeme McLeish (L).

Runners up also on 35 points were Mark Andreatta (S), Chris Brooks (3) and Jenny Smith (L).

Best One Game winners, on 25 points, were John Nicholson (S), Margaret Hoy (3), Pauline McWilliams (2) and Max Summers (L).

I would like to say that we look forward to the return of some of our members soon who are not feeling too good.

Especially Bill, Shirl and Sue.

We are all thinking of you and look forward to your return.

Once again, we thank Peter, Pauline and John for all the hard work they do each week to get our group together and hold these events.

Thank you also to Phil and Terry for looking after the bar and keeping most of our players happy.

Next week we will be congregating at San Remo to once again fight it out.

If everyone could be on site by 10am, to try to make Peter’s life a bit easier when arranging teams, that would be greatly appreciated.

Meanwhile, stay safe and see you next week.
