Party time for Max at Lang Lang

Members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group celebrated a special occasion on Thursday with Max Williams lining up for a game of bowls just shy of his 90th birthday on Sunday.

Everyone in the group would like to say ‘Happy birthday Max’, and we all hope to look as young as you when, or if, we get there!

This week’s game was held at Lang Lang Bowls Club with 28 bowlers turning up to fight it out for team of the week.

A couple of short delays as the rain fell in the morning session, but these only held the group up for about 10 minutes for the day.

The wind played havoc with the bowls for the first hour or two but then it settled down.

As usual there was a fair amount of laughter across the green, but it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves.

We didn’t see any wrong bias bowls today, so keep up the good work everyone.

The winning team this week on a great score of 37 was David Smith (S), Phil Wright (3), Frank D’Unienville (2) and Graeme McLeish (L).

Runners up on 33 points were Michael Dady (S), Rob Jeffreys (3) and Bob Arnold (L).

Best One-Game winners for the day were Peter Borradale (S), Trevor Loughridge (3) and Jenny Smith (L).

Thank you to David and Vern for the work outside and thank you to Marianne, Bev, Jenny and David for clearing up inside.

Next week we will be meeting at Corinella and please be on site by 10am to allow time for teams to be prepared.

Meanwhile have a safe and happy week.
